New Features in iOS 16 Beta 2
The iOS 16 Beta 2 has been available for some time now, and it brings along an array of impressive features that enhance user experience.
Here are the highlights of the latest beta release, including four additional features that are particularly noteworthy.
Chapter 1: Unveiling New Wallpaper Filters
One of the standout additions in iOS 16 Beta 2 is the introduction of new wallpaper filters. Initially, I mentioned two filters: Duotone and Colour Wash. However, if you opt for a portrait as your wallpaper, you'll also unlock two more filters—Studio and Colour Backdrop.
When using the Studio filter, selecting Low Key turns the background to black, while High Key changes it to white. The Colour Backdrop filter allows you to customize the background color behind the main subject.
Chapter 2: Innovative Copy Features
The second noteworthy feature is the ability to copy just the subject of an image. When I haptic pressed a portrait of Tim Cook found online, a prompt appeared allowing me to select "Copy Subject." This function copies only the main subject without the background, enabling easy pasting into apps like iMessage or Notes. Users have also noted similar functionality in the Photos app.
Chapter 3: Enhanced Contact Suggestions
Another exciting addition is the enhanced contact name suggestions in iMessage. When you start typing a contact's name, you now see their name accompanied by their photo as a suggestion. Currently, this feature displays the name as plain text, but it is expected to simplify sharing contact cards in future updates.
Chapter 4: Improved Message Editing
Lastly, iOS 16 allows users to edit an iMessage for up to 15 minutes after sending. However, if you're using the iOS Developer Beta while your friend is on iOS 15, will they receive your edits? In Beta 1, developers experienced issues where their non-developer friends didn't see the edited messages. Fortunately, Beta 2 resolves this problem. My friend received a notification indicating that my message had been edited, displaying: "Edited to '[message].'"
The first video provides an overview of over 15 new features and changes introduced in iOS 16 Public Beta 2, showcasing how these enhancements can transform your iPhone experience.
The second video dives into the new features of iOS 16.2 Beta 4, including updates on battery life, additional functionalities, and a follow-up on previous beta versions.
