# Reviving the Joy of Technology: An Open Letter to Carl Pei

Chapter 1: A Call for Fun in Technology
Dear Mr. Carl Pei,
You are absolutely correct in asserting that technology should be enjoyable; however, it seems that this joy is fading. Your primary goal appears to be reintroducing a sense of delight into innovative gadgets. Yet, have you considered why technology has lost its playful edge?
For anything to truly be enjoyable, it requires human involvement. Unlike humans, animals and children can find joy in the simplest things. Adults, however, seem to restrict their enjoyment to certain toys, events, media, and institutions.
You see, Mr. Pei, technology embodies materialism, which can be likened to tantra. Fun with technology must begin with the joy of the physical self. Without a person's appreciation for their own bodily experiences, how can they find joy in anything else—be it technology, friendships, or pets?
Might it be that technology is becoming less enjoyable because humanity itself is losing its essence?
Political factions often attempt to undermine autonomous thought by highlighting privilege. The resulting segregation and discrimination require no further explanation. Allow me, however, to draw a parallel to you, Mr. Pei.
You mention joy, but do you ever reflect on your own privileges? I propose that you possess not just wealth or institutional influence, but perhaps a privilege of health. While I cannot ascertain your health status—whether you face insulin resistance, a meniscus tear, or even ADD—one could reasonably infer that someone as determined as you likely maintains a certain level of order in both mind and body. After all, without such discipline, how could your company, Nothing, thrive?
Let me be clear: the most remarkable technology you will ever create is yourself. There is no comparison to the complexity and potential of your own being. I urge you to contemplate this when considering why people may no longer derive pleasure from their digital and communicative tools. Perhaps technology could improve by returning the focus to the human experience for better engagement.
Furthermore, I invite you to ponder whether it’s solely your perception—your unique reality—that leads you to believe technology is no longer enjoyable. Are you, Mr. Carl Pei, truly having fun?
Should you be interested, I would relish the opportunity to discuss this matter further. A casual game of Texas Hold' Em over Góral Tea could serve as a delightful way to engage in this conversation. Regardless of the outcome, I wish you all the best, and I eagerly anticipate your next innovations with Nothing—a name that embodies simplicity and depth.
Selah.
Yours sincerely, Filip Cabra
